We continue our travels tireless anxious to know the best places for a good holiday season. The destination that will occupy the next few days will keep us in the old continent, but in a less benign latitude Portugal, climatologically speaking, but not detract from this fate.

We go to Denmark to meet its capital, Copenhagen. A place in the most important point between the Baltic Sea and its northern neighbor, Germany. What makes this city is an important part of national trade and where the cash economy has always been one of its main hubs.

One of the port areas of the city

The first settlements in this area date back to 4000 BC permanent settlements but discarded those years, suggesting that this area was the way, possibly by the peoples of eastern and northern Europe to other places.

It is believed that the first city was built in the eleventh century and had two settlements, one in the west and a smaller one. Back in 1100 the town was fortified and made more importance than other places in this latitude, thanks to its convenient location and strength, something only the rich cities have or had something to defend.

About the year 1290 and well into the nineteenth century all traffic in and out had to do it using one of the four gates of this wall, so he held a tight control over all economic activity in the city.

But it was not the only, there were several walled cities, but they were walls made of earth and palisades. Some had some pit, and it may seem otherwise, Copenhagen was not the first city to have strong walls but was Kalundborg, which had in addition to wall with several towers as would happen later with the destination in question.

And with this first post short history we said goodbye to our second installment, where we will know more about the history of this fantastic place these days with us.

One of the museums that we are in Denmark, we recommend the Glyptotek Museum, although it is also known as the Glyptotek in Copenhagen. One of the museum whose collection of Egyptian pieces is more important, much more than most Egyptian Museum. It’s certainly a very attractive museum for visitors, because the collection of antiques is quite large. Just past the front, and we like to see the structure of the building and observe in detail that it is a museum with an elegant exterior structure.

Inside we have a garden, which also tends to be liked by many tourists. The large collection of pieces from private collections, is really high, highlighting pieces of pottery, paintings and other pieces really valuable. Carlsberg brewery

Whether you like it with or without foam, beer is a very popular drink worldwide. In fact today I just heard on the radio that in Spain the average consumption per person is 54 liters per year.

Well, we do not go around the bush. Today we are going to visit the factory of the world’s most famous beer: the Carlsberg (the green tin crown, yes)

First step: we must be in Copenhagen (Denmark), which is the birthplace of beer. After touring Strøget, get us a picture with the Little Mermaid and see the changing of the guard at the Royal Palace, we go straight to Carlsberg Brewery.

There two huge elephants carved at the entrance to greet us for about 2 hours where we can make a self-guided tour (with tasting included). Surely we marvel at the impeccable cleanliness of their laboratories, distilleries and wineries where millions of gallons of the golden beverage is brewing every day.

Here is the largest collection of beers in the world: some 12,000 bottles (and growing) which will take a while to find our favorite (either Spanish, Argentina, Mexican, American or whatever) but will, for sure.

At the end of the visit, gave us a voucher to exchange for two cans and, of course, where we will store carrying shirts, bags, bowls and green cans.

The tours are on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 and 15 hours. Where? 11, Gamle Carlsberg.

One of the most interesting aspects that make Copenhagen a perfect city to learn in a few days is its size.
