Storebaelt Bridge to cross the more than 13 miles from the Great Belt strait (Storebaelt in Danish) that separates the islands of Zealand and Funen. The section is actually formed by two bridges, the Bridge East and West, using the island as an intermediate point Sprogo.
The bridge was opened in the summer of 1998, and eventually establishing the largest engineering project in the history of Denmark.
Before this date, the link between the islands of Zealand and Funen was performed by ferry lines, which naturally suffered delays and blockages in very bad weather days. Read the rest of this entry »
