September is the first Danish autumn months. It will be cooler and wetter – but luckily there is still sunlight and warmth to find south. Here are five tips for finding a cheap trip in September, so you can extend your summer for a week or two.

In September, we have moved out of peak season and it is typically a month in which travel companies selling and offering cheap flights. So if you’re lucky enough to have vacation in September, you may find a very inexpensive and beautiful journey south. How do you ensure that you find the best prices:

Find last-minute travel and holiday packages
If you have ice in your stomach and can wait until the last minute to book, you can save even more money. In September a lot of last minute travel, so the supply is large.

Watch for travel agencies
Many of the major travel agencies create decidedly where travel enthusiasts can get an overview of possible trips in September. Based Spies , then sold travels to September right now with between 500 to 1.5000 dollars in savings.

Watch for travel from the different airports
Sometimes it pays to keep an eye on travel from both Billund, Aarhus, Copenhagen and Aalborg. For example, divides Startour their retail travel between airports:
- Star Tours cheap travel in September from London
- Star Tours cheap travel in September from Aarhus
- Startour cheap travel in September from Heathrow
- Startour cheap travel in September from Aalborg

Check flights and hotel are cheaper bought separately
Airline and travel companies are not the only ones trying to sell out. The hotels are also seeing that the season is over and therefore there will be sales and promotions on hotelværeler in large parts of southern Europe. In some cases, it pays to buy the plane ticket and hotel room separately – for example if the ticket can be purchased via Ryanair and the hotel can be booked with great saving, for example. through Hotels.com .

Did you know in Denmark, you can get money back if your railroad train is delayed? The scheme is called DSB Basic Travelling Time and applies if your train is more than 30 minutes late. There is a similar scheme to Arriva.

And it works. In late December took my friend and I on the train from Aarhus to Copenhagen. Due to snow and ice was the train underway almost 2 hours late – and otherwise changed from being a fast Intercity trains lightning, to the snail’s pace and stop at all stations.

That our train was delayed by over two hours was obviously frustrating (and enormously dull). But our sense of justice was satisfied few days later when we discovered the possibility of applying for compensation.

We just completed an application form, printed it out along with our tickets and sent it all to the DSB by mail. A few weeks after we received even a letter stating that they would add 491 dollars – or the equivalent of 75% of the ticket price – in my NEMkonto. Thank DSB.

Only suggestion for improvement is that you can also apply online. But there is surely a deliberate strategy of not making it too easy.

How to get money back if your train is delayed

Click on DSBs side Basic Travelling Time . Here is everything you need.
Fill out the form and print it out.
Print documentation for your trip (your ticket).
Send it all by mail to the DSB.

Criteria

The journey may not only be made with S-train.
There must enclose proof of journey. It can be your ticket or a copy of your voucher, where you have marked, which cut it is. Read more here .
DSB must have application within 14 days after the delay.
Your train must be at least 30 minutes delayed.
Have you traveled by commuter cards, season tickets, SU-cards, educational cards or other cards, you should instead enroll DSB Commuter Travelling Time .
Cash compensation is only possible for sums of more than 25 pounds.

Compensation
Are you entitled to compensation, you can either choose to receive a new ticket on the same route or have deposited money directly into your account. The latter is calculated as follows:

30-59 minutes late = 25% compensation
60-89 minutes late = 50% compensation
90-119 minutes late = 75% compensation
120-more-minute delay = 100% compensation

This area includes most of Denmark and includes the cities of Aalborg and Aarhus. The west coast of Jutland offers clean beaches and soft sand, but can be dangerous for swimming due to changes in currents and winds. Jutland also found most of Esbjerg, where ferries arrive from the UK every day. The main cities are Aarhus, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Frederikshavn, Holstebro, Kolding, Randers, Silkeborg, Vejle and Viborg.

Aalborg contains the largest Viking cemetery and a cathedral, monastery and castle. The largest Renaissance buildings in Denmark are in this city. Aarhus has a collection of more than sixty buildings of the seventeenth and VXIII brought from across the country and reassembled in a charming landscape, as well as Marselisborg Castle and a museum of prehistory. Fanø Esbjerg and are of historical interest and have beautiful beaches. The castles of Rosenholm, Voergard Clausholm and worth visiting. Legoland (Billund), open from March to October, offers great entertainment for children.
