Stroget
Stroget say that it is the longest pedestrian Avenue in the world (2 km), and connects two of the most beautiful esplanades: Radhuspladsen (the Town Hall square) and Kongens Nytorv. It is the commercial artery of the city, and always has great animation. This part, the famous canal Nyhavn (new harbour) is one of those images so many times we’ve seen photographed.
To the North, the Latin quarter is always available for a plan cobbled together until dawn: live music, a beer or some street representation. There is the Cathedral of Vor Frue Kirke, built after the British attack in the space that previously occupied several churches. close by, two seats are highly recommended to walk and drink: Grabrode Torv and Kultorvet.

To the North of the canal, the Amalienborg Palace is the residence of the Royal family since 1974, where the changing of the guard can contemplate when the Queen is in its interior. Not far away lies the Christiansborg Palace on Slotsholmen island and the castle of Rosenborg, of hexagonal plant, defended by bulwarks. After the short boat trip we arrived at the Amalienborg Palace just before the changing of the guard. The truth is that we had not planned well, but it’s worth seeing because it’s pretty funny. So if you’re a few days in Copenhagen, booking a place at 12:00 in the morning to watch the maneuvers of the soldiers who are part of the Danish Royal Guard.

What is known as Amalienborg Palace is actually an octagonal structure made up of four palaces that surround a central plaza, the Amalienborg Square.

Eighteenth century buildings are designed in accordance with a rococo style. Today is the winter residence of the Danish royal family.

In the center of the square stands the equestrian statue of Frederick V

The Royal Guard parade actually begins at 11:30. The soldiers leave Rosenborg Castle (Rosenborg Slot) and make the journey through the Latin Quarter area, Østergade, Kongens Nytorv, Sankt Anna Plads .. up to Amalienborg.
