We Give you a list of proposals for things to do once you are in the Danish capital soil:

Stroget
Stroget say that it is the longest pedestrian Avenue in the world (2 km), and connects two of the most beautiful esplanades: Radhuspladsen (the Town Hall square) and Kongens Nytorv. It is the commercial artery of the city, and always has great animation. This part, the famous canal Nyhavn (new harbour) is one of those images so many times we’ve seen photographed.
To the North, the Latin quarter is always available for a plan cobbled together until dawn: live music, a beer or some street representation. There is the Cathedral of Vor Frue Kirke, built after the British attack in the space that previously occupied several churches. close by, two seats are highly recommended to walk and drink: Grabrode Torv and Kultorvet.

To the North of the canal, the Amalienborg Palace is the residence of the Royal family since 1974, where the changing of the guard can contemplate when the Queen is in its interior. Not far away lies the Christiansborg Palace on Slotsholmen island and the castle of Rosenborg, of hexagonal plant, defended by bulwarks. In a few minutes we are already very close of the puerto… and the Little Mermaid. It is the most photographed statue in the world.

The old town tene its limit the central station, where begins the lively Vesterbro, the súmmun of the night in Copenhagen. Its axis is the Vesterbrogade Street. Istedgade is the most colorful and animated Street: hosts local live music and apartments occupy young Bohemians and artists. Meanwhile, Halmtorvet and Straw Square live under the Parisian influence of sophisticated cafés and restaurants in design.

Tivoli
The Tivoli is the most picturesque of Vesterbro. Also breaking records, it is the oldest amusement park in the world. Differs it from others its ancient character with a touch a both kitsch and “related”. The night is the best time to visit, when the lighting gives a feeling of regression to the past.
Another good option: visit the neighbourhood of Christiania, stroll along its shores and pry on their markets.

Kronborg Castle
Visitors who have more time may take their stay in the capital to know other places a few miles from Copenhagen. One of the best options is the region in the North of Zealand in eastern Denmark. Frederiksborg Slot, in April, is a Renaissance castle that it stands on three small islets and is reminiscent of the Chateau of Versailles. The fortress of Kronborg in Helsingör, has always been closely linked to the character of Hamlet, and its walls you can watch well close to the coast of Sweden. Built by Frederick II and Christian IV was a strategic place between Sweden and Denmark which, for centuries, controlled the passage through the Strait of Oresund and currently hosts an interesting Museum.

Roskilde Cathedral
Another alternative of travel is Roskilde, which was the first capital of the country. Its beautiful Cathedral – high capitals and a mysterious crypt with sarcophagi of Danish Kings – has been declared patrimony of humanity. The town is also an excellent place for approaching Viking culture, thanks to the Viking Naval Museum, which houses 5 drakkar reconstructed and workshops where creating replicas with the methods of yesteryear. It lies on the shores of Roskilde fjord, and we recommend that you arrive at the Museum from the Cathedral and a pleasant walk through the residential district separating them.

Oresünd bridge
Finally, do not fail to visit some Sweden: Malmö, third largest city of Sweden, is a stone’s throw and can be reached in half an hour catching a train from Copenhagen central station. The trip does not cost more than 7 euros, and also allows to pass through a fantastic feat of engineering as it is the bridge of Oresünd between Denmark and Sweden since the year 2000. This is the second longest bridge in the world, and the pillars that underlie it are the highest buildings in Scandinavia.

The Danes are obsessed with privacy. Each of them. Even the toughest covered in leather Biker will recommend a bar based on the factor of “hygge” in Danish, however, “hygge” means more than fires of cocoa and tea. It is a sense – a sense of warmth and the company. Then, as another winter long waiting in the wings, it is time that this feeling hygge. Here are some points that hot more comfortable in the capital, Copenhagen.

Nationalmuseet

While the Viking bling and the art of the Renaissance are sufficient reasons to visit the National Museum of Denmark (Ny Vestergade 10), to capture this hygge atmosphere, it is difficult to overcome the collection of the House of dolls Museum historical, implemented as a city harvest perfect in a dark exhibition space. Peer in the House, meticulously detailed and I wish that they were quite small trawlers inside and cosy.

Dyrehaven

Retro-cool cum café-bar Dyrehaven (Sdr. Boulevard 72) was once a kind of work of the bar of sawdust and saliva (studded the booths of vinyl, easy scanning and bar the wooden floors kitsch telling the story). Now is a second home for young bohemians of the term, sitting in cheap, tasty grub drinks (“Kartoffelmad” open egg sandwich is a classic, with the may homemade and fried shallots) and the camaraderie of late night, relaxed.

Fischer

Another intimate work, the old bar (original accessories include bar communal oak, hidden away poker tables machines and a few old ones), Fischer (Victor Borges Plads 12) serves Italian food of classic soul as linguini freshly made with Dell’Olio and aglio (pasta with garlic, olive oil and derivatives). Serious is good and authentic, which is not surprising to see the Chief owner and Chief David Fischer worked on the plays of Michelin La Pergola in Rome. Do not accept credit – effective cards overseas.

Library bar

Ceiling stained glass Windows in wood, oil paint, wall and dim lighting panels. It may is the Act of reading in your room’s private domain, but is actually the library (Bernstorffsgade 4) bar Plaza Hotel. A cold autumn night, it is a first for a quiet small of Claude Chabrol.

Illums Bolighus

Hygge is more cushions and candles, it is useful to have the right accessories. Load in all the essential elements for the design of the Department store Illums Bolighus (Amagertorv 8-10). It’s a classic nirvana design at several levels, ranging from the light of tea of the Danish chairs…and, yes…um, celestial throws and cushions glass holders.

“Do the happiest place on Earth?” Disneyland may claim the motto of cheese, but we like to think that Legoland Denmark, although much smaller, can give a timetable for their money.

“LEGOLAND is, after all, a theme celebrating Park ‘ toy of the century” in the country in which it was invented: Denmark, “the happiest nation in the world.” If you think that this place is going to be something special. And it is.

Legoland in Billund, a small town in the regional Denmark, which was the cradle of the toy bricks opened in 1968, is located. Billund is about 260 km west of Copenhagen; part superior, there the airport was built by the Lego company in the 1960s has evolved to become the second largest in the Denmark airport. Public transport in the Park are excellent.

Once here, your heart is heated by the sight of 59 million plastic bricks with imagination to create sky Lego and both happy families of Scandi – pallid possibly only healthy how can adapt within a theme park? You can feel a little underdressed not be accessorising with their own offspring excited, but not apply – begged this place all but embrace thy heart’s child.

For anyone by above of, say, five years, the culmination of Legoland is Miniland-20 million blocks of plastic snap together to create cities of miniatures and replicate global icons. You can’t help but wonder brilliant Lilliputian models Kennedy Center, canals of Amsterdam, Bergen or a spring Castle and Scottish loch and you probably swear at the head of the House and drag the Lego of storage to see what masterpiece, you can create (do, certainly not so hard?).

In Miniland, you can also perform some visits ahead of Danish landmarks including tourist magnet of Nyhavn in Copenhagen; ancient city of the country, Ribe; or the Royal Palace of Amalienborg. Children can take a mini-jeep safari with a park of African wildlife (Lions, zebras and giraffes, built from Lego, of course). All ages can take a miniboat from a past trip such as the Temple of the statue of liberty, the Acropolis and Egyptian in Abu Simbel. Reconstructions are on a scale of 1: 20-1: 40 and the attention to detail is incredible. Largest exhibition in the Park, a model of Mt Rushmore with four American Presidents, is built with amazing Lego bricks of $ 1.5 million. (The smallest piece)? (A dove in Miniland, built four small white bricks).

New Park in 2011 is the area of Star Wars, where the bricks 1.5 million were used to recreate seven detailed scenes from Star Wars movies. Walkers of fours, rendered in Lego Robotics are something to see, as it is the scene of the Tatooine cantina in miniature.

Be sure to pick up a map of the Park to facilitate exploration. The Park is divided into thematic areas, including Legoredo town, a region of the Wild West; Kingdom of Knights, where awaits a medieval castle; Pirate land that hosts and sword-play boats; and double lands, safe, simple and activities for children rides.

Tours and activities of the Legoland is addressed mainly to motion tweens and families. For more wild wrinkles adapted for older children, compare unfavorably to somewhere such as Tivoli in Copenhagen. Still, addicted to adrenaline must treat X-treme racers, roller coaster that bumper at a speed of 60 km/h, then head to the nearby power Builder defy gravity with a robotic arm to Terminator-like.

For some time of inactivity of the judgment by Atlantis, a large aquarium built around models of Lego and underwater divers. For Park refrigerated goer as mount and used to prevent blood pressure, for a leisurely stroll from the train rides. Once that is paid the entry fee, all tours are free. Happy indeed.

Did you know in Denmark, you can get money back if your railroad train is delayed? The scheme is called DSB Basic Travelling Time and applies if your train is more than 30 minutes late. There is a similar scheme to Arriva.

And it works. In late December took my friend and I on the train from Aarhus to Copenhagen. Due to snow and ice was the train underway almost 2 hours late – and otherwise changed from being a fast Intercity trains lightning, to the snail’s pace and stop at all stations.

That our train was delayed by over two hours was obviously frustrating (and enormously dull). But our sense of justice was satisfied few days later when we discovered the possibility of applying for compensation.

We just completed an application form, printed it out along with our tickets and sent it all to the DSB by mail. A few weeks after we received even a letter stating that they would add 491 dollars – or the equivalent of 75% of the ticket price – in my NEMkonto. Thank DSB.

Only suggestion for improvement is that you can also apply online. But there is surely a deliberate strategy of not making it too easy.

How to get money back if your train is delayed

Click on DSBs side Basic Travelling Time . Here is everything you need.
Fill out the form and print it out.
Print documentation for your trip (your ticket).
Send it all by mail to the DSB.

Criteria

The journey may not only be made with S-train.
There must enclose proof of journey. It can be your ticket or a copy of your voucher, where you have marked, which cut it is. Read more here .
DSB must have application within 14 days after the delay.
Your train must be at least 30 minutes delayed.
Have you traveled by commuter cards, season tickets, SU-cards, educational cards or other cards, you should instead enroll DSB Commuter Travelling Time .
Cash compensation is only possible for sums of more than 25 pounds.

Compensation
Are you entitled to compensation, you can either choose to receive a new ticket on the same route or have deposited money directly into your account. The latter is calculated as follows:

30-59 minutes late = 25% compensation
60-89 minutes late = 50% compensation
90-119 minutes late = 75% compensation
120-more-minute delay = 100% compensation

You will find the cheapest flights to and from Denmark by using flight search engine which momondo.dk, seat24.dk and travelmarket.dk. Additionally it is recommended to keep a watchful eye on temporary promotions, check out low-cost airlines often fly cheaply to and from Denmark and also assess whether it pays to travel across Denmark after the cheap ticket.

There are a whole raft of airports in Denmark – Billund, Copenhagen, Esbjerg, Karup, Rønne, Sønderborg, Aalborg and Tirstrup (chicago) airport. Often there will be especially cheap flights from Billund, Aarhus, Aalborg and Copenhagen.

Sometimes your flight trip / return to Denmark to be so cheap that it is best to pay to fly from the airport closest to, instead of traveling to and from London Gatwick or Heathrow first. Remember, train tickets, bus tickets, gasoline and parking could be saved if you flew from your local airport. In addition comes the time it takes to travel from one end of the country to another, to find their way to the cheap airfare.

At several airports websites you can search for destinations, in order to find flights and travel companies. Travelling from London, you might. spend their vacation guide search . It can also be used as inspiration if you have a favorite airport in Denmark.

Cheap flights through holiday packages

If you are looking for a cheap flight from Denmark, but without first having special preferences for the destination, it is natural to be inspired by the often very cheap holiday packages. Here, we distinguish between unspecified and specified tickets. Read any. more and see a list of Danish travel companies offering cheap flights to and from Denmark incl. overnight.

Cheap flights through campaigns

Many of the airlines out an annual series of campaigns that trigger very cheap tickets to and from Danish airports. The focus is on SAS and Ryanair. SAS runs on a spring sale, where 1,000,000 tickets sold cheaply in a month or two, like Ryanair, several times a year have promotions and discount prices on their flights. In order not to miss this offer, you can subscribe to the companies nyehdsbrev which always made aware of the best deals and cheapest flights.

When you’re a backpacker, you travel simple. This does not preclude careful planning, including extensive consideration of what to pack and carry. In this article we list 10 things you as a backpacker should not forget to take with you.

We jump straight into the list of 10 things you as a backpacker should always have with you. For inspiration for a complete list, see the package list .

Toilet paper. Not just because that many toilets in the world, by definition does not include this luxury. But also because the toilet paper can be used as napkins, towels, plates, notepad, clean paper, earplugs and more. It does not take up so much and weighs almost nothing.

Plastic Poster. For example. in the form of cold items. Is incredibly useful when you travel and can be used to seal off things that should not become wet (or can not do other things wet), which waterproof socks, or to store, for example. laundry or batteries. Packages Mon clothes in bags, you can suck the air out of bag and use a vacuum presses clothes to fill smaller.

Rubber bands and string. To tie the plastic bags, tie things fixed, hang a hammock or a lamp, to repair his backpack or as a clothesline.

Personalised content for when disaster strikes

First aid Kit. Must be packaged as required and may contain disinfectants, plasters, antibiotics, vabelplaster, painkillers and pills for diarrhea. Do not forget something as banal as a patch. Travelling hot and humid places you will get sores on the feet, which can be difficult to get to heal without it.

Swiss Army knife. Useful for practical activities, to repair or build anything. For opening cans, cutting bread or salami, cut nails or cut you a walking stick. Be sure to pack it down in your large backpack, so it will not be taken from you at the airport.

Padlocks. To enhance the security of your chalet or your room, lock things down or close your backpack better. Available with a numerical code or keys – and of widely differing quality. Remember extra keys.

Rain poncho. Travelling for long periods in humid countries, you can not avoid the rain – which are often much more intense (and kortvarrig) than we see in Denmark. Pack a rain poncho that you can take out of bag and all. It does not fill, weigh or cost nothing special.

Flashlight. Super useful when the power goes out, you need the toilet at night, you should look at a map on the evening or when you need to find the banknote, you just lost. Remember batteries – or buy a version that can be left out of the movement.

Sunscreen. Keep it in various small containers so you can take it with you on your trip to the beach or city. Do not buy sunscreen that has stood in the sun as it loses much of its effect under such conditions.

Copies of documents. If unlucky and you lose your passport, your airline tickets, booking records and much more, so you can save yourself days of hassle and worry by having copies of all your documents. Travelling with another, so bookseller copies, have a spare copy in the small backpack and original documents in your large backpack (or wherever you’d want them).

It is clear that you along with the above should also remember clothes, electronics, chargers, and a lot else. See article, with inspiration for the complete package list , which you can print and check off on.

The castle built in the mid-sixteenth century can say now is the best preserved of all built in Europe.

Depending on the time of construction in the civil war the country loomed constructions were done thinking about protection rather than on the aesthetic, but the castle Egeskov contains a unique beauty.

It is one of the few that are built around a lake and in the fables and stories. As historians have only gateway was a bridge.

His great stay for centuries due to the solid oak construction on piles away from your name.

From the architectural point of view we can say that is pure Renaissance style and the plant is divided into two buildings, this separation was carried out for the fight, we could separate a part of the castle leaving momentarily safe.

An important piece that was very useful during battle was the construction of two towers of a great dimension to those who defended the castle could attack from a great height and sometimes even unseen.
Undoubtedly one of the architectural jewels of Denmark giving a great importance on Fyn island where the castle is.

Each year it receives a large number of tourists to see one of the finest buildings of the twentieth century.
The care of the castle are really hard to try to keep you safe from landslides, and causing damage over time.
