Have Fun at The Tivoli Garden

Open to the public August 15, 1843, are the Tivoli Gardens, with its 4 million annual visitors, the biggest resort in Copenhagen, the Danish capital, and are the second oldest amusement park in Denmark, after the Bakken. The fact that its facilities are keep almost intact from its origins increase their magic and appeal.

At the time of its inaguration, Denmark was an absolute monarchy, and Copenhagen was consolidated as a city, surrounded by defenders and ditches. Its creator, Georg Carstensen, convinced the King Christian VIII of Denmark to the viability of the park saying that when people have fun, not think about politics. Tivoli was an immediate success for the 120,000 inhabitants of the time.
