Travel by car through Denmark

Many tourists opt to rent a car to enjoy a real free tour. Denmark is a country in which we find many places to explore and if you’re adventurous, you appetizer sure to travel by car, so you can visit the cities you also like to see and plan your journey by Denmark in the way you think more convenient, without being subject to the schedules or to have no hotel booked, so they decide to stop as you like.

Denmark is a country that is open to visit by car and is especially recommended for people who have time and keen to visit big cities and smaller towns but also with many charms. It is a way to cover a good part of Denmark in a few days so we can get the most from the many attractions that we are in this country so nice and so may surprise you during your trip, either by car or other means of transport you look good for travel.

Rosenborg Castle was built in 1606, within the King’s Park in Copenhagen, under the specific request of Christian IV. This building, crowned by towers and needles, surrounded by a moat and a large park, was the residence of the royal family during the seventeenth century.

The brick building, typical of the Renaissance style Dutchman, has survived the bombing and fires that have occurred since then.

The building is well furnished but casual. The rooms are arranged chronologically. Those belonging to the period running from Christian IV to Frederik IV have been carefully preserved.

Ribe, the land of the Vikings

The oldest city in Denmark, has in its historical area an urban landscape that refers to other times. Ribe is the name of the eponymous district and a port that gave life to the culture of the Vikings, with an activity that placed it in the ninth and tenth century as one of the most important commercial and all Scandinavia.

Ribe is situated in southwest Jutland, and is part of the municipality of Esbjerg, southern Denmark. The city fell into decline after losing the functionality of your port a few centuries ago. However, the settlement lasts remarkable preserving old buildings, including its cathedral, and some 110 homes as part of the assets protected. Read the rest of this entry »

Features around Copenhagen

- The Lousiana Museum alight at Humladaek to 20 minutes north of Copenhagen. The Museum of Modern Art is built on a hill overlooking the sea The building is very open to the outside and the garden are also exposed sculptures (including a giant work of Calder).

The room devoted to Giacometti is beautiful: many works, well arranged, bay window overlooking a small lake. The museum has an attractive cafeteria and an outdoor terrace facing the sea note, however, the museum has many temporary exhibitions and runs its permanent collections quickly enough, not enough space for any exhibit. Entry fairly expensive (10 euros) but it’s worth it.

- Elsinore: in the north, 35 minutes from Copenhagen by train regional. Against Sweden very close, constant roundtrip ferry linking the two countries. Nice little town with charming houses and a large castle at the water’s edge. Read the rest of this entry »

Visit the town of Ribe in Denmark

One of the places marked by the Vikings is Ribe, a very ancient city in Denmark and has many attractions for tourists to enjoy. It is a city with much history and where we are with a cityscape that seems frozen in time, which makes the tourists enjoy a lot with everything they see, always closely related to the culture of the Vikings, because they were important in this Denmark area. The port of Ribe had great importance for trade with Scandinavia, so it’s one of the leaders of the trade.
